How to Remove Gel Nail Wraps Without Acetone (or Damage)

How to Remove Gel Nail Wraps Without Acetone (or Damage)

Let's be honest. With salon gel, removal is the part nobody talks about.

The acetone soak. The foil wraps. The scraping. The filing. And then the nails underneath: thin, bendy, a bit sorry for themselves. Most of us have walked out of a removal appointment with nails that needed a holiday more than we did.

It doesn't have to be like that. With The Nourish Range, removal is the gentlest part of the whole ritual.

Why removal matters more than you think

The damage from a gel manicure often isn't the gel itself. It's how it comes off.

Acetone dries out the nail plate and the skin around it. Scraping and filing to get the last bits off removes layers of your natural nail along with the gel. Repeat that every few weeks and your nails spend their whole life recovering.

Our wraps are built to come off differently: with oil, a wooden stick and a little patience.

What you'll need

  • Your Renew Oil Pen (or any cuticle oil)
  • A wooden cuticle stick
  • An alcohol prep pad, if you're applying a fresh set straight after

No acetone. No foil. No metal tools. Ever.

Step 1: Lift one edge

Use the wooden cuticle stick to gently ease up one edge of the wrap, at the cuticle or along a side. Go slowly. If it doesn't want to move, that's fine. The oil is about to do the hard work for you.

Step 2: Add oil

Apply a few drops from your Renew Oil Pen around and underneath the lifted edge. Give it a few seconds to soak in. The oil loosens the adhesive, so the wrap can release without pulling.

Step 3: Slide it off

Slide the stick slowly underneath the wrap, working side to side towards the tip of your nail. Add more oil whenever it feels stuck. Let the oil do the work. Never force it, and never scrape.

Step 4: Clean or nourish

Putting on a fresh set right away? Wipe each nail with an alcohol prep pad first, so there's no oil left on the nail plate.

Giving your nails a breather? Massage a little more oil into your nails and cuticles, and admire the healthy nail underneath.

Salon gel removal vs Nourish Range removal

Salon gel removal The Nourish Range
What does the work Acetone soak Nourishing oil
Tools Foil, metal pusher, file One wooden stick
Scraping or filing Usually Never
Where Back at the salon, paying again At home, whenever suits you
Your nail afterwards Thinner, drier, recovering Exactly as it was

Good to know

  • No rest needed between sets. With no UV, acetone or scraping, there's nothing for your nails to recover from. You can apply a fresh set as soon as the nail plate is clean and oil-free.
  • Each wrap is single use. Once it's off, it's done its job.

Pregnant or breastfeeding? Our wraps are HEMA-free and TPO-free and removed without acetone.

As always, check with your healthcare provider if you have any concerns.

Removal, reimagined

We think removal deserves the same care as application. So make it part of the ritual: a quiet evening, your Renew Oil Pen, and five fingers at a time. Then pick your next shade.
